Veterans Memorial sees light at end of tunnel; some aspects being rebid
It’s been a long road with many bumps since the vision of a Veterans Memorial was first imagined.
The biggest obstacle has been location, but that is no longer an issue.
The Chase County Veterans Memorial is now slated to be built on the northeast side of the courthouse.
One tree has already been removed and a second smaller tree will be moved to accommodate the design, said Kasey McArthur, Veterans Memorial committee chairman.
The committee brainstormed an updated version of the memorial design by creating a mock-up so they could get a visual of how it will look, he said.
The adjusted design will incorporate the existing stone memorial currently at the courthouse by placing it at the front of the new memorial.
