Vehicle crashes near cemetery road

Three young adults sustained minimal injuries in an accident Saturday night at the cemetery road and Grant Street intersections.
Sheriff’s Deputy Rob Browning said the 1996 Lincoln driven by Juan Venegas, 19, of Imperial was traveling east on cemetery road and missed turning right or left as the road dead-ended.
The vehicle came to rest in the ditch, when emergency responders were summoned at 9:55 p.m.
There were two passengers in the vehicle with Venegas, including Francisco Barrientos of Imperial, age unknown. Browning did not have the name of the other passenger.
None of the occupants were wearing seat belts, Browning said.
When Imperial EMS arrived on the scene, the occupants were checked out but refused further treatment at the hospital, the deputy said.
The vehicle, which he considers totalled, was towed from the scene by family members.
The Imperial Volunteer Fire Department was also on the scene and assisted.
