Updated projector, sound system coming to theatre

Movie-goers will soon experience an updated projection and sound system at the Imperial Theatre.
City council members voted to spend $42,141.95 at the Nov. 19 meeting, purchasing a four-year-old Barco series two digital projector, a Dolby integrated digital server and related equipment from Heartland Theatre Services, LLC in Council Bluffs, Iowa.
The four-year-old equipment is coming from a theatre in Valentine that closed, Community Development Director Jason Tuller said.
Tuller, who is also a theatre projectionist, said the current projector system is working okay, but technology has surpassed it.
“Somewhere along the way it was not updated and its server support is on its last leg,” Tuller told council members last week.
