UNL, MPCC team up for ‘Watz Up’ program on babysitting

The University of Nebraska Lincoln (UNL) extension office and Mid-Plains Community College (MPCC) teamed up June 26 to present a babysitting class as part of the “Watz Up” series, said Debbie Kuenning, UNL Extension Educator.
Eleven boys and girls, aged nine to 13, participated in the class.
“We covered four main categories during the class which began at 10 a.m. and ended at 3 p.m.,” she said.
The first area was child development, taught by Carol Kunnemann, an early childhood special educator for the Educational Service Unit (ESU) #15.
She instructed the class of young babysitters on what to expect children to be able to do during each stage of life from infant to five years old.
