Tuesday deadline for incumbent filing

    Incumbent office holders have until 5 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 18, to file for re-election.
    If a current elected office holder seeks election to a different office, they are still considered an incumbent and must meet the Feb. 18 deadline.
    Incumbents filing as of Wednesday morning include Wauneta-Palisade school board member John Jutten and Chase County Schools board member Willy O’Neil.
    Also, Harry Merrihew has filed for his Subdistrict 5 seat on the Upper Republican NRD board. NRD filings must be done through the Nebraska Secretary of State office.
    Craig Loeffler filed for one of the two seats up for election on the Imperial city council.
    Non-incumbent office filers must file by 5 p.m. Monday, March 2, to appear on the May 12 Primary ballot.
