Imperial residents may recall an incident in January of this year when a man was wandering down Court Street, screaming and showing frantic behavior.
Juan Carlos Trejo, 34, of Holyoke, Colorado was arrested in Imperial along Court Street between 10th and 11th Streets around 11 p.m. on Jan. 15.
After an altercation with both the Imperial Police Department (IPD) and Chase County Sheriff’s Office, Trejo was taken to the Colorado state line, where Phillips County officers took custody.
Last week, local law enforcement came into contact with him again.
On Nov. 5 around 1:15 p.m., Trejo showed up at the Chase County courthouse, again screaming and showing frantic behavior.
He was “obviously under the influence of some sort of drug,” Chase County Sheriff Kevin Mueller said.
Once arrested by the sheriff’s officers, Trejo was “hallucinating and screaming at the top of his lungs so he was unfit to be housed in our jail,” Mueller said.
Trejo was facing shoplifting charges in Keith County, and he was immediately transported there and held on those charges.
He isn’t facing any local charges, Mueller said.
