Third day school enrollment the same as 2019-20 start

Enrollment at Chase County Schools this fall is, coincidentally, at the same exact number as the start of the 2019-20 school year.
Third day enrollment numbers released Friday show 619 students at CCS, the same as reported the first few days of school last year.
There is a difference of three students in the K-6 and 7-12 grades.
The K-6 grades are up by three students, from 324 to 327, while students in grades 7-12 dropped three, from 295 to 292, compared to the 2019 start of classes.
It’s the seventh consecutive year CCS enrollment has been above the 600-student mark.
With just about a week of school behind him, first-year Supt. Adam Lambert said CCS continues to show strong enrollment numbers.
He looked back and discovered enrollment was 528 in the 2007-08 school year. That indicates nearly a 100-student increase since then.
He said an important piece in the enrollment picture is the strong number in kindergarten. This year’s class has 45.
The day-to-day operation at the school is going well, despite the COVID-19 requirements, Lambert added.
“The students are doing a good job adjusting  with masks in the halls, and the staff, too. I’m impressed,” he said.
He said there hasn’t had to be any adjustments in the school’s operational plan since the first day of school Aug. 19.
Students and staff are required to wear masks in all “common” places where seating hasn’t been assigned. That includes hallways, coming into the cafeteria, restrooms and auditorium.
Once students are in their classrooms at their assigned seats, the masks can be removed, Lambert said.
