Swanson named October Mentor of the Month

Vanessa Swanson has been chosen as TeamMate of the Month for October.
Swanson has been a mentor for Emma, a seventh grader, for six years.  
Emma enjoys doing crafts, but as she has gotten older, they spend a lot of their time just talking.
Swanson became a mentor when the program started in Imperial.
She wanted to be a part of someone’s life and provide a student another adult who they could talk with other than a parent.
Swanson said she understands sometimes it’s difficult to talk with your own family about things, and it might be easier to have another adult friend that you can share things with.  
Asked what she enjoys most about TeamMates, Swanson said it was watching Emma grow and mature.  
“She has changed and become a young lady and that has been fun to watch and be a part of,” Swanson said.
She works at Pivot Electric and is married CJ Swanson. She is also a busy mom to Cash and Maesa.
She likes to spend time with family, but also likes to run and loves sports and reading when she can find the time.
