Student registration continues as MPCC gets ready for fall classes

Aug. 18 is a day circled on staff calendars at the Mid-Plains Community College (MPCC) Imperial campus.
That’s the day classes begin for the MPCC fall semester.
Brenda Ledall, Imperial campus coordinator, said registration of students has been ongoing since spring, and will continue right up until classes start in a week and a half. They’ve been registering new students since Advising Day in April, she said.
This fall, students have the choice of about 35 for-credit classes through the Imperial campus in a range of subject areas including business, science, fine arts, auto body, building construction, criminal justice and more.
The 35 for-credit classes do not include the dual credit classes offered at Chase County Schools, Wauneta-Palisade (WP) and Dundy Co. Stratton (DCS) either, she noted.
In a partnership with MPCC, CCS will offer 14 dual credit classes, which provide the student both high school and college credit.
Three dual credit distance learning classes will be available at WP, while DCS will have two dual credit classes taught there, she said.
Community ed. classes
Five non-credit community education classes will be offered at the Imperial campus during the fall semester.
Ledall said three of the community ed. offerings will be new ones, and two are coming back due to their popularity.
