Special early bird fair ticket deal ends July 31

    Fans of country singer Josh Turner and special guest Shenandoah, who’ll perform Aug. 17 at the Chase County Fair, have just a few more days to buy tickets at a $5 discount.
    The current $35 ticket price for general admission (standing) and $40 for grandstand seats at the Turner/Shenandoah show go up to $40 and $45 at 12:01 a.m. on Aug. 1.
    That’s according to Jakob Burke, who handles tickets and marketing for the fair board.
    Burke said ticket sales for both Friday and Saturday night concerts, Aug. 16-17, are going very well, “better than expected.”
    In fact, sales at this point for the Turner/Shenandoah 7:30 p.m. Saturday night concert are on pace to be “one of our top country shows” in many years, Burke said.
    “It’s been a very good showing from patrons, and a nice surprise to the board,” he said.
    The Friday night show will feature rock ‘n roll band Hairball with special guest The Rude Band. Those ticket prices are $30 and $35, and do not have an early bird special price, Burke said, at the request of the entertainer. They will stay that price throughout the sales period.
    Burke said Hairball will give quite the show, and won’t start until dark after The Rude Band opens the 7:30 p.m. concert.
    “Hairball’s show involves a lot of pyrotechnic displays, fireworks and videography,” Burke said, and requires the darkness for full effect.
    After Hairball performs, The Rude Band will return to the stage with more music. Concert-goers can remain in the grandstand area to socialize and dance, he said.

Fairgrounds ticket booth opening Aug. 5
    Ticket chairmen Rob and Carma Hartman will open the ticket booth at the fairgrounds on Monday, Aug. 5.
    The ticket booth will be open the entire week, Aug. 5-9, prior to start of the fair from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., then have expanded hours the week of fair.
