Smokin’ on Broadway offers lawn games, live music

■ Editor’s note: This is the fourth in a series to announce the upcoming Smokin’ on Broadway events.

Who doesn’t like good ole’ fashioned lawn games or the opportunity to listen to music and be with family and friends?
Smokin’ on Broadway plans on having both Saturday, July 1, at the Imperial city office lawn and parking lot.
There will be various lawn games like human foosball, giant jenga and scrabble, inflatables for children to enjoy and a 50/50 drawing.
The day will also have a live performance from Job, Peter and Chuck, a band that almost exclusively performs classic folk and rock from the 1960s and 70s.
Lawn games
The human foosball is a collaborative effort between Chris Lee, an Imperial Chamber member, and Adams Lumber Company of Imperial.
Lee and Adams Lumber currently plan on making a court that is 20 by 50 feet.
“We want to make it as close to a real foosball table as possible,” said Lee.
Although the game will be played with humans and a soccer ball, the rules are the same as any regular foosball game.
“Grab as many friends as you want, and come play. We plan on having a couple of volunteers on hand to explain the rules,” said Lee.
There will also be large versions of the common board games Jenga and Scrabble available to the public.
An 8 by 8 foot Scrabble board, made by Chamber member Jana Pribbeno, will be in front of the Lied Imperial Public Library.
The location of the Jenga set is still yet to be determined.
There will be four different inflatables across the lawn of the city office all supervised by multiple volunteers.
An 18 foot tall slide, obstacle course, Scooby Doo bouncy house and a World of Disney bouncy house will be available for people to enjoy. The rented inflatables from Roo Jumps Inflatable Party Rentals have been funded by the Imperial Community Foundation Fund.
Tickets for the 50/50 drawing are available at the Imperial Mid-Plains Community College (MPCC) campus.
