Severe Weather Week reminds us to be prepared

March 22-28 has been designated as Severe Weather Awareness Week (SWAW) for Nebraska.

SWAW is sponsored by Nebraska Emergency Management Agency (NEMA).

SWAW provides the National Weather Service with an opportunity to test communication systems and get potentially lifesaving information to the public.

In observation of SWAW in Nebraska, Chase County Emergency Manager Duane Dreiling said there will be a testing of the tornado siren next Wednesday morning.

This is in addition to the tornado siren test the first Saturday of each month.

This siren emits a steady sound for three minutes.

“There are three sirens located in Imperial and one each in Champion, Enders, Enders Lake and Wauneta,” Dreiling said.
