Sentencing Aug. 6 on Hicks enticement case

    A Palisade man will be sentenced Aug. 6 on a charge of child enticement by electronic device.
    The Hitchcock County Clerk of District Court’s Office said James Hicks, 42, pleaded no contest to the charge at a June 8 arraignment.
    Child enticement by electronic device is a Class IV felony punishable by a maximum of five years in prison or a $10,000 fine.
    The Nebraska State Patrol said Hicks was arrested Jan.. 17 after a search of his Palisade home.
    The State Patrol said an investigation of Hicks began after the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children contacted the State Patrol and told them a person at Hicks’ residence had received child pornography.
    Federal agencies also were involved in the case.
    Hicks is free on $75,000 bond.
