Scrap tire coming in May for Chase County residents
On May 15-16, the Chase County Transfer Station will be accepting old tires between the hours of 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The tires must be off the rim, and all sizes from tractor tires, passenger cars, truck tires and smaller will be accepted, said Billie Muehlenkamp, who is coordinating the project for the county.
The funds for this project are being made available by a grant from the Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality, Waste Reduction and Recycling Incentive (DEQ), said Muehlenkamp.
The funds pay for advertising, staff payroll for unloading the tires and payment to bid-approved pick up of the tires, she said.
“The tires will be reused for feed bunks, side-wall rings for silage cover weights and alternate daily cover for landfills,” she added.
The transfer station is located at the south edge of Imperial along Avenue 331.
