SCORE registrations filling up fast; deadline is June 5

Registration deadline for the upcoming SCORE camp is June 5. People are encouraged to register as soon as possible due to limited space.
“Fifty percent of registered spots have been taken, and numbers keep going up,” said Charlesa Kline, one of the three SCORE coordinators.
All eligible first through sixth grade students from Chase County Schools, Wauneta-Palisade, Hayes Center, Hitchcock County, Dundy County Stratton and Perkins County have received a brochure with registration information.
Online registration is also available at www.scorecamp.com. The $110 registration fee can be paid on the website where all major credit cards are accepted.
Applications and payment can be mailed to Linda Lakey at P.O. Box 120, Imperial, NE 69033 or brought into the school’s office. Checks must be payable to the CCS Education Foundation. There will be a $10 late fee for registrations received after June 5.
Brochures can also be found at the Lied Imperial Public Library, NRD, Imperial city office, Chase County Schools (CCS) and The Imperial Republican.
Not only will students have an opportunity to dive deeper into the many kinds of science at this year’s SCORE camp. On Wednesday, June 14, from 5:30 to 8 p.m., there will be an evening outreach open to the public.
AmeriHeart and AmeriBrain by Interactive Exhibits, Mad Science and C.A.P.O.W. will all have feature presentations for the public that night.
There will also be four one hour shows from all visiting groups, Wildlife Encounters, Mad Science, C.A.P.O.W. and AmeriHeart & AmeriBrains by Interactive Exhibits, Thursday, June 15, throughout the day at CCS. Shows, also open for all, will begin at 8 a.m., 9:15 a.m., 10:30 a.m. and 12 noon.
Volunteers are still needed to help supply snacks or house one of the traveling team members of the various groups that are coming. For every group of 15 students, there needs to be two volunteers. Both high school students and adults can volunteer their services.
If interested in helping with snacks contact Jacci Paisley at jpaisley@chasecountyschools.org, to help with housing contact either Michaela Cochran at mketter2012@gmail.com or Darci Boman at dboman@chasecountyschools.org. Contact Chelsea Zuege at chzuege@chasecountyschools.org if interested in volunteering to help one of the groups.
All students will start out the day by meeting at CCS and be gone from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The 1st and 2nd graders will attend camp June 13-15, 3rd and 4th graders June 14-16 and 5th and 6th graders June 12-15.
All participants are required to attend final registration day June 5 where they can pick up their T-Shirt, water bottle, schedule and lunch cooler.
