Saturday, Dec. 6, the Wauneta Chamber will host the annual Santa Saturday. Festivities kick-off with a Christmas Bake Sale from 11:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m., at the Mercy Meals House.
The Senior Center will have the quarter store open from 1:00-4:00 p.m. Travel to the Library to write letters to Santa and enjoy Crafts and Treats from 2:00-4:00 p.m.
At 4:00, the silent auction begins at the Festival of Lights in the Community Building. Individuals, businesses or organizations can sponsor a Christmas tree or wreath to be in the silent auction.
Each donation can be a traditional Christmas decoration or a theme of your choice. Your imagination is the only limit.
The Chamber has a few trees/wreaths that have been donated and the first to join gets first pick of the trees and wreaths.
Funds from the silent auction  and soup supper will go towards community betterment to further beautify downtown.
The movie, Polar Express will be shown at the Chateau Theatre for free at 4:00.
The Chamber Courtesy Soup Supper will be held in the Community Building from 5:30-6:30. Santa will be attending.
At 6:30, the Parade of Lights will take to the streets. Contact Jessie Kerchal at 308-350-0705 to enter.
Wauneta will have an Angel Tree and a Sharing Tree for people who would like to help those in need.
The Angel Tree is sponsored by Global Methodist Church and gives a chance to make a child’s Christmas brighter. Angels are placed on the tree at Sandhills Bank with the child’s age, gender and gift ideas. Gifts can be bought and returned to the bank to be delivered before Christmas.
The Sharing Tree is located at the Wauneta Senior Center and is a chance to give back to our local Senior Center.
The tree will have tags listing items that can be used throughout the year. You can pick a tag or two, buy items and deliver them back to the Senior Center.
Both trees will be at the Wauneta Chamber Soup Supper on Dec. 6 for Santa Saturday. Your donation will help spread a little holiday cheer with donations to both young and old.
