Rollover accident driver walks away with only minor injuries

Despite being ejected from his vehicle Sunday morning, 21-year-old Jose Prieto of Holyoke, Colorado was released from Chase County Community Hospital with minor bumps and bruises.
Chase County Sheriff Kevin Mueller said Prieto was traveling westbound on Highway 6 in his 2005 Jeep Wrangler at approximately 6 a.m. Sunday morning.
Prieto hit a deer about 11 miles east of the state line, lost control of the vehicle and landed in the opposite ditch, rolling one time.
“I don’t know if he rolled and then just fell out,” Imperial Volunteer Fire Department (IVFD) Assistant Chief Brad Wheeler said. “But he’s a lucky kid.” The Jeep is considered totaled.
In addition to Chase County Sheriff’s Office and IVFD, Imperial EMS was also on the scene.
Fog is presumed to be a factor in the accident.
