Registration response good for annual hospital cancer run/walk this weekend

Saturday will be this year’s annual cancer run/walk fundraiser event sponsored by Chase County Community Hospital.
“The registrations have really picked up this last week,” said Deb Hrcka, Chase County Hospital Foundation assistant executive director.
Deadline to register for a T-shirt has passed, but people can still sign up for the 5K race that day, but they may have to wait to receive a T-shirt, Hrcka added.
The event will take place at the Imperial city park on West 7th Street, east of the skatepark.
    Registration/sign-in will be
3:30-4 p.m. with the run/walk beginning at 4:30 p.m.
Cost to enter the race is $20 per person or $15 per person for a four-person team.
There are $10 raffle tickets being sold for drawings for four prize packages—a Husker package, family activity package, man’s crate and a ladies’ package.
During the event, there will be other fun including life-size board games.
Raffle tickets will be sold that day for $1 each to win a life-size game, she said.
A meal of hot dogs, chips and S’mores will be served at 5 p.m.
The meal is included in the cost of the run/walk registration. Otherwise, a free will donation will be taken.
“We’re going to have a fire pit on site for making the S’mores,” Hrcka said.
Nutrien Ag Solutions is donating the hot dogs and chips, while Wauneta Crossroads  is providing the ingredients for the S’mores, she said.
“The community is invited to attend this event and support this worthy cause,” Hrcka said.
Funds raised will support those affected by cancer and their families, including patients’ associated expenses as well as preventive care.
