Red Cross blood drive still on despite school’s closing

Despite the closing of the Chase County Schools building the rest of this week and next, the March 24 Red Cross blood drive at the school is still scheduled.

That’s due to the critical need for blood and approval from Supt. Larry Lambert, said School Nurse Angie Paisley, coordinator for the school drives.

“We are only going to use the auxiliary gym and restrooms in that area. Donors will be screened before going into the gym,” she said.

Prospective donors should enter the auxiliary gym from the east.

Tuesday’s blood drive is  from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and has a 96-unit goal.

The drive is also being held in memory of Bridgette Odens, a 2017 CCS graduate and a blood donor.

Appointments to give blood can be made online at redcross blood.org, by calling 1-800-RED-CROSS (1-800-733-2767) or contacting Paisley at 308-882-4228. Walk-ins are welcome.

To get a RapidPass for Tuesday’s drive, donors should visit redcrossblood.org/rapidpass, complete the questionnaire, then print  their RapidPass and bring it with them. This can only be done on the day of the drive.

The completed RapidPass form can be shown on a mobile device, as well, when they come to donate.

As always, donors should bring a picture I.D. with them Tuesday.
