Radio announcer covers Chase County Fair 50 years

John Brandt, radio announcer and sales manager for KOGA radio station in Ogallala, has been covering the Chase County Fair for 50 years.
Brandt said his boss had him convinced for the first 10 years that coming to cover the Chase County Fair was like a vacation.
“The truth is, it really was like a vacation. I love this fair,” he said.
This is one of the seven Brandt covers each summer.
There have been so many great entertainers who appeared at this fair through the years, he said.
“Special to me was the chance I got to speak with Kenny Rogers, Roy Clark and Lynn Anderson. These were just some of the fair highlights that stand out,” Brandt said.
“It amazes me who all has been at this fair—Buck Owens, Dolly Parton, Charley Pride, Johnny Cash and June Carter, Alice Cooper, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, Ronnie Milsap—too many to name,” he added.
