Pickup stolen from rural Imperial found in Iowa

Vehicle was reported missing from farm in mid-December

A stolen pickup in mid-December west of Imperial has been found in Iowa, apparently part of an alleged theft ring spanning several states.
Chase County Sheriff Kevin Mueller said he was contacted last week the pickup owned by Dale Large of rural Imperial had been recovered with several others in Sidney, Iowa.
Authorities with the Fremont County Sheriff’s Office in Iowa advised they had recovered a red 2005 Chevrolet 2500 pickup that had been reported stolen Dec. 16 from Large’s farm, just off Highway 6, about nine miles west of Imperial.
Fremont County Sheriff’s Office authorities informed the Chase County Sheriff’s Office three individuals were arrested who have been linked to multiple vehicle thefts and burglaries in Nebraska, Colorado and South Dakota.
During the arrest, Fremont County deputies seized numerous stolen vehicles and stolen property. Due to the vast amount of vehicles and property recovered, the Fremont County Sheriff’s investigation into the matter is continuing and ongoing, Mueller was told.
Mueller said his office was contacted Dec. 16 by Large that the pickup was missing, apparently taken late that morning. Tire tracks were seen in the yard, Mueller said.
While he doesn’t have hard evidence, the sheriff believes a stolen 2000 Peterbilt semi found north along the Brandon Road in December could also be tied to the same theft ring.
