PC Raceway opens Saturday

Monster truck rides, Easter egg hunt also to be featured

“The Veteran” monster ride truck, an Easter egg hunt for kids and season-opening races for Phillips County Raceway are all on track for this Saturday, starting at 5 p.m. sharp at PCR at the fairgrounds just north of Holyoke, Colorado.
High Plains late models and the new Tri-State tour will be part of the raceway opener, as well as mod, stock, sport mod, hobby stock, dwarf and compact divisions.
Weather has been a deterring factor in season openers at PCR in past years, and promoter Joe Bellm is thrilled the weather forecast for this weekend looks so promising.
In an attempt to appeal to a young audience, Bellm said an Easter egg hunt will be a featured as part of Saturday’s entertainment. Additionally, drawings for give-aways for all raceway goers will be part of the program.
Bellm is especially pleased to bring the “Veteran” monster ride truck to the track to give raceway fans a once-in-a-lifetime chance to ride in a monster truck.
The truck will be part of the national anthem to begin the races, and the opportunity for rides will be offered at intermission and after the races.
The entire fee for riding in “The Veteran” will go to the Veteran Monster Truck company sponsor, Bellm explained.
Veteran Monster Truck promoter Michael Scanlon emphasized they are committed to honoring and supporting military veterans from all five branches of the armed forces.
“It’s core to our mission,” he added.
