Parade entries building

In two weeks, local residents will be in the midst of a busy Chase County Fair.
One of the biggest events of the week-long fair is the Saturday morning parade, this year on Aug. 18 beginning at 10:30 a.m. down Imperial’s main street.
Chris Lee, who is co-chairing the parade with Randi Rusk for the Chamber of Commerce, said entries are beginning to flow in.
He encourages people planning to enter a float or other entry in the parade to get their forms in soon for planning purposes. Forms are available at The Imperial Republican office, the FV Coop office and other locations in town as well as in this newspaper.
When completed, they should be taken or mailed to the coop office in Imperial.
This year’s theme is “Chase County Fair—Let’s Go There.” It’s a take-off of one of Brothers Osborne’s songs. They will be performing at the fair for the grandstand show Friday, Aug. 17.
Imperial residents Jack and Ina Wilson are the grand marshals.
Divisions for entry include organizations, business/professional, equestrian, religious and open class.
A table will be set up in front of the Imperial Manor for registrations that morning, Lee said, beginning at 8:30 a.m. Judging will start at 9 a.m.
A review stand will be set up between 5th and 6th Streets on Broadway.
As of this week, Lee said one politician plans to take part—State Sen. Dan Hughes of Venango, who is seeking re-election to his 44th District legislative seat.
Permits with the Nebraska Department of Transportation are being secured that will close most of Broadway during parade time that morning.
