Officers: meth deemed most popular illegal drug in area

    Due to new forms of drugs being abused, local law enforcement has taken more precautions to protect themselves and the public against potentially hazardous results.
    “Drugs are more readily available,” Chase County Sheriff Deputy Duncan Einspahr said. “It’s mostly meth here.”
    The incident with Juan Carlos Trejo last week sent Imperial Police Department (IPD) Officer Daniel Morales to the hospital to get checked for a possible Fentanyl exposure.
    Morales felt lethargic and “off,” after dealing with Trejo, he said.
