New salsa contest a hit at Smokin’

One new contest at Smokin’ on Broadway this year was a salsa-making competition.
Sponsoring the event was Wine Glass Ranch.
All salsas had to be homemade and made with fresh ingredients, said Logan Pribbeno of Wine Glass Ranch.
Salsas were judged on appearance, aroma, taste and texture.
Pattie Walker came away with third place, receiving $15. Lori Sis took second place and earned $25, while Pete Snyder was the champion, winning $50. All the prizes were in the form of Chamber Bucks.
The top three winners also received a Wine Glass Ranch hat.
Emma Jenkins won the People’s Choice Award, also winning a Wine Glass Ranch hat and a Yeti mug.
There were 20 entries for the contest.
“We enjoyed doing it,” Pribbeno said.
The Smokin’ committee plans to bring back the salsa-making contest in 2020.
