New popcorn popper at theatre makes for quicker servings

The new popcorn popper at the Imperial Theatre was installed last Friday and it had a good workout that day with three movies shown. Jason Tuller, one of the theatre projectionists, was busy popping the popcorn ahead of time last Friday morning in anticipation of several grades from Chase County Schools coming in for a PTO-sponsored movie on the last day of classes before the Christmas break. Following the school group was a later afternoon movie-showing for a private party, then the evening’s regular movie—“Frozen 2.” Tuller said it was taking the old unit more than eight minutes to cook one batch, a long time when lines are forming. The new popper, exactly the same Paragon International unit from Nevada, Iowa as used before, now cooks a batch in just over three minutes.
