New Lions Club officers assume helm this month

It’s July and that means a change in officers for the Imperial Lions Club.
The 2019-20 officers assume their duties this month as the club moves into one of its busiest times of the year.
Sheryl Curtis will serve as president in the coming year, replacing Emma Jenkins, who’s served in the position the last two years.
Other officers include Tammy Siverson, vice president; Miles Colson, treasurer; Jan Schultz, secretary; Dennis Batterman, Lion tamer; and Nate Jenkins, tail twister.
Curtis will also serve as the club’s membership chairman.
At the June 25 meeting, recent club service projects were reviewed.
The club donated a gift basket valued at $250 for the Cattlemen’s Ball of Nebraska auction June 7-8, and awarded its annual $1,000 senior scholarship to 2019 CCS graduate Katelyn Leibhart.
Imperial Lions also coordinated the bike parade, a new event at this year’s Smokin’ on Broadway.
At recent meetings, the club hosted Hospital CEO Steve Lewis and Wallace Lions Club member Larry Seger. Lewis had visited about the hospital bond vote, while Seger addressed the Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF) and the work it does across the U.S. and world.
Earlier this spring, Seger noted LCIF provided areas in eastern Nebraska with a $30,000 grant to help with flood damage.
Peaches, bingo planning
It’s currently a busy time for the Lions club as members are now taking pre-orders for their annual Colorado peach sales.
