New fiber network partnering with Allo

At an Allo After Hours gathering Friday, an announcement was made that will bring fiber internet to the community.
While Allo’s headquarters is located in Imperial, Allo has never offered services in the community for a variety of reasons.
In addition, no fiber-to-the-home network to deliver their services existed in Imperial. A group of local businessmen decided to change that after experiencing challenges with slow and lagging internet.
Ben Brophy, Bill Brophy, Russ Pankonin and John Paisley make up the new fiber network company, Gigabit.
In August, the group received assistance from Imperial’s Economic Development Program and a zero-interest $700,000 loan from the LB 840 city sales tax fund.
“And so what we’re doing is we’re building a fiber optic network,” Pankonin said.
Gigabit is the owner of the network and has engaged Allo to manage the network and provide Allo internet, TV and phone services over that network.
Paisley said it was easy to choose Allo to run the fiber network.
“They have a great business model and they’ve built their reputation on phenomenal customer support,” he said.
Contractors are already underway with network construction in Imperial, with underground boring that began early last week.
