Museum presentation to remember veterans

Chase County Museum will present a program Sunday called “Remembering our Veterans.”
The program will be timely since it is preceding the Fourth of July holiday, said Becky Carman, member of Chase County Historical Society.
The speaker for the program will be Carol Knotwell Thompson, member of the Palisade VFW auxiliary.
She will be speaking on the history of the VFW auxiliary, explaining why it was started and its purpose.
There will also be information given on the planning of the Veteran’s Memorial for Chase County.
Lied Imperial Public Library staff are compiling information about area men and women who served from WWI to the present by utilizing newspapers stored on microfilm, Carman said.
This information will then be on display Sunday during the program.
The public is invited to attend and share any information, letters or articles of interest they have about family members or area people who served our country.
The museum will be open from 1 to 4 p.m. with the program beginning at 1:30 p.m.
    Refreshments will be served.
