Museum not just a building; it’s a place to reconnect with history

Here we are looking back on 2017 and at the same time looking forward for the new opportunities which will be presented to us in 2018.
The Historical Society would like to thank everyone who visited the museum in 2017. We enjoyed visiting and reliving special memories in the lives of those visitors.
This past summer we shared stories from the Blanche community in the northeast part of the county. We remembered the “good old days” in Wauneta, and were able to view Champion from above with the help of a scale model of main street.
The biggest crowd of the summer packed the museum and listened to the first part of the story of Nebraska pioneer Mariah Monahan, presented by Cherrie Beam-Callaway.
As in past years, our collection of Chase County history has increased through the kind donations of many people and families. All the items on display and in storage at the museum have been donated from people just like these over the years, people who want to help preserve our rich history and pass on the stories.
If you would like to donate memories from your family, please contact a board member and we can help you.
Along with the continued additions to the museum comes the question to how best present the story.
