Motorcycles shine on warm fair afternoon

On a very warm Saturday afternoon, entries in the fair’s motorcycle show shone brightly along the main walkway to the fairgrounds.
Onlookers enjoyed 23 different bikes for viewing, and were able to vote for a favorite in the People’s Choice competition.
That honor went to young 10-year-old Braxton Chubb of Imperial with his 1971 Yamaha Mini Enduro 60. He also won the mini division with his Yamaha.
A former Imperial resident, Larry Larson, won the trophy for riding the most miles to Imperial for the show. He came from Taos, New Mexico, where he now resides, and traveled 460 miles.
Each winner received a trophy plaque with photo space for their award winning motorcycle.
Coordinator Dave Irey said entries were close to last year’s show, which drew 24 bikes. A winner was picked by a panel of judges in seven divisions.
The contest is sponsored each year by District 12 ABATE, which stands for American Bikers Aiming Toward Education.
