Migrant summer camp students tour Republican

Chase County Schools had a migrant summer camp this week for K-3 students.
Janet Sheaffer, Arlys Cupp  and interpreter Alicia Dimas of Hayes Center have taken the students on various field trips throughout the week.
“There are various language levels among the students,” Sheaffer said. “One student just got to Imperial a few weeks ago and doesn’t know very much English, while others have been here awhile and can speak well.”
Monday, the students got a tour of the Imperial Republican.
Students learned about what jobs are done at the newspaper, got to see the press and even put together a news page.
Wednesday, the students went to North Platte to visit the Buffalo Bill Cody Ranch, as well as see a weather balloon at the weather station.
Friday, the students will get to go to the Imperial City Pool.
