Mayor’s Poker Run to hit road in July

It’s almost time for the seventh annual Mayor’s Poker Run set for Saturday, July 11.
Riders are asked to meet at the Imperial city gym to check in at 9 a.m.
The ride will commence at 10:30 a.m., said Mayor Dwight Coleman.
“Early on, following our usual route didn’t look good because of problems presented by COVID-19 restrictions. Businesses weren’t open to the public, and traveling through Colorado was not going to happen,” Coleman said.
That’s all changed now, and the normal route will be followed as in the past, he said.
After leaving the Imperial gym, the bikers will follow the route to the Western Keg in Benkelman, then lunch in St. Francis, Kansas and a visit to the motorcycle museum, said Coleman.
Next, they will continue the route through Wray and Holyoke, Colorado, then back to Imperial.
The deadline to pre-register for a T-shirt to wear on the day of the ride is July 6, he said.
“Riders can still register the day of the poker run, but they may have to wait to get their T-shirt,” Coleman added.
The cost per rider is $30, and all proceeds will go to the Giving Circle who will also be providing a meal for the riders at the end of the run, he said.
