Markee receiving outpatient cancer treatment in Denver

Harley Markee, a sixth grader at Chase County Schools and the daughter of Brad Markee and Melissa Markee, was diagnosed with leukemia last month.
Markee completed the school day on Sept. 6, but had a doctor’s appointment at the Chase County Clinic after, with complaints of fatigue and  feeling “sluggish.”
“Based on blood results, (the clinic) suggested that she be transferred to Rocky Mountain Children’s Hospital in Denver,” her aunt Jessica (Markee) Framke said.
Markee was eventually diagnosed with dual lineage leukemia, or what is sometimes referred to as MPAL.
“In simple terms she is fighting both ALL T-cell (acute lymphoblastic leukemia) and AML (acute myeloid leukemia),” Framke said.
“She is settling into her outpatient routine as she is continuing her course of treatment,” Framke added. “Her ANC count is extremely low, so unfortunately she is stuck at her apartment in Denver.”
Markee is thankful for cards and gifts that have been sent.
“509 Broadway has graciously offered to be a drop off spot for us to grab things and get them up to her,” Framke said. “Puzzles, board games, Barnes & Noble and Starbucks gift cards are all things that she could use.”
Cards can also be mailed to P.O. Box 1344, Imperial, NE 69033, which will then be transferred to Denver.
T-shirts are available at Platinum T-Shirt and Embroidery.
“We will also have more team Harley bracelets available at 509 and Platinum so stop in and pick one up to help show support,” Framke added.
“Thank you to the entire community of Imperial and to everyone in Lincoln and beyond who has shown their love and prayed hard. Keep it up. Our entire family appreciates it.”
