Levy nominated for National Rural Health Day Community Star award

Julie Levy, an employee at Chase County Community Hospital for seven years, will receive the 2017 Community Star award for the state of Nebraska.
The Community Star is awarded by the National Organization of State Offices of Rural Health each year.
The NOSORH recognizes rural communities in all 50 states with unique healthcare needs. National Rural Health Day honors the selfless, community-minded, can-do spirit that prevails in rural America.
The award is presented to each state’s nominee on the third Thursday of every November to celebrate National Rural Health Day.
The Community Star award is given to an individual or organization in each state whose outstanding work and service deserve recognition for their service. The recipients are then included in the 2017 Community Star book with their photo and profile.
Levy was selected as an individual from Nebraska for her exceptional work in advancing and improving the health in the community. She is a registered dietitian and board certified advanced diabetes manager. She will be honored on Thursday, Nov. 16. The theme for this year is “The Power of Rural Health.”
“I feel proud to be nominated and to be recognized for all my hard work,” Levy said.
Levy is originally from Winfield, Kan., graduating from high school in 1999. She attended Cowley County Community College in Arkansas, Kan., on a softball scholarship and a presidential scholarship. She graduated in 2001.
