Lab results, flu shots available at hospital’s Health & Wellness Fair

Area residents can take some important health-related measures next week when Chase County Community Hospital hosts a Health & Wellness Fair.
The lobby of the clinic in Imperial will be the site for the evening fair on Wednesday, Oct. 9, from 5 to 8 p.m.
Linda Nelson, the hospital’s respiratory therapist, said they host a health fair every couple of years, with a focus on blood draws. This year, it was also timed during the flu shot season.
Those who took advantage of the times last week for special blood draws at the  Imperial and Wauneta clinics will be able to pick up their results at next week’s health fair, Nelson said.
Hospital staff will be on hand to review the results if the patients want, she said.
People will also be able to receive a flu shot and immunizations for pneumonia and tetanus/whooping cough, as well. Insurance will be billed, Nelson noted, but if copays are required they should be paid that evening.
For those with no insurance, who are under-insured or on Medicaid, a special time for the Chase County Immunization Clinic will also be set up during the Health & Wellness Fair. That clinic is held the third Saturday of the month, but Chris Tomky, R.N., coordinator, will have it there that evening in addition to its next regular clinic time on Saturday, Oct. 19.
Other services provided at next week’s event include free blood pressure checks and educational material on opioids.
The Chase County Hospital Foundation will also have a booth on site promoting their work, Nelson said, with information on the Oct. 19 Cancer
Walk/Run in Imperial and raffle tickets for the give-aways at that event.
