Jeff Wallin hospitalized after 4-wheeler accident Monday

Jeff Wallin of Imperial is recuperating at home following a serious four-wheeler accident Monday in one of his cornfields south of Lamar.
He was initially treated at Chase County Community Hospital, then transferred by ambulance to the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) in Omaha.
    He returned home Tuesday night.
According to his wife Marilee, he hit a washed-out spot in the field while he and son Dakota had been working on a pivot. Wallin was returning to the pickup to retrieve a part when he hit the rut, causing him to flip over the front of the four-wheeler, which then landed on top of him, breaking seven ribs.
He was able to push the four-wheeler off himself, get into the pickup and drive over to where Dakota was working. His son then drove him in to the hospital in Imperial.
Wallin sustained six broken ribs on his left side, and one on the right. He also suffered a separated shoulder.
Her husband is resting at home, and still in some pain, she said.
