J&D Mobile Car Wash brings convenience, family values to Southwest Nebraska

What started as a passion for clean vehicles has grown into a family-run business that is bringing professional detailing services directly to customers across Perkins County.
José Antonio Ortiz Villalpando, owner of J&D Mobile CarWash, officially launched the business in September 2024 after years of learning the trade and building a customer base through word-of-mouth recommendations. Today, he and his family provide mobile detailing services for everything from passenger vehicles to RVs, boats, semitrucks and agricultural equipment.
“I’ve always enjoyed seeing the transformation,” Ortiz Villalpando said. “I like taking something that’s dirty and making it look almost like it did when it first left the dealership.”
Originally from Mexico, Ortiz Villalpando and his family moved to Perkins County about three years ago for a job opportunity. After settling into the area, they quickly found themselves drawn to the slower pace of life and welcoming community.
“My family grew to love living here, and that’s one of the main reasons we decided to stay and make this area our home,” he said.
The business itself reflects those family values. The name, J&D Mobile CarWash, combines his name with his wife’s, while the company’s blue and pink colors represent their son and daughter.
“It’s a family business, and we wanted it to reflect the most important part of our lives,” he said.
Ortiz Villalpando’s detailing experience began while living in Florida, where he worked alongside a friend in the mobile detailing industry. That experience sparked an interest in learning more, leading him to complete detailing courses and continue expanding his knowledge of products, techniques and vehicle care.
After moving to Perkins County, he began detailing vehicles on the side while working other jobs. As satisfied customers shared their experiences, demand continued to grow.
He also recognized a need for a service that saves customers time.
Instead of asking people to leave their vehicles at a shop for hours, J&D Mobile CarWash brings the service directly to homes, businesses and job sites. The company arrives with its own filtered water supply, power source and professional equipment, allowing customers to continue with their day while their vehicle is cleaned.
“We wanted to make it as convenient as possible,” Ortiz Villalpando said. “People can stay home, keep working or take care of their family while we do the work.”
In addition to interior and exterior vehicle detailing, the business offers paint polishing, water spot removal, oxidation removal for RVs and boats, ceramic protection services, residential window cleaning and exterior house washing.
Ortiz Villalpando said every job presents a different challenge, but he enjoys continuously learning and improving his skills.
“We’re not perfect, and there’s always more to learn,” he said. “Every vehicle teaches us something new.”
Like many new business owners, he said uncertainty has been one of the biggest challenges.
“There are busy days and slower days,” he said. “You always wonder what tomorrow will bring, but I remind myself why I started and keep moving forward.”
His long-term goals include opening a permanent location that would allow the business to continue operating through the winter months while maintaining its mobile services. He also hopes to create local jobs and eventually partner with area businesses to provide fleet cleaning and detailing services.
Supporting the local community remains one of his priorities.
“I believe supporting local businesses is what makes a community strong,” Ortiz Villalpando said. “This community has treated my family very well, and we want to give something back.”
