The Imperial Volunteer Fire Department (IVFD) responded to a corn stalk fire Monday afternoon south of Champion.
IVFD Chief Doug Mitchell said the fire was “east of the hog farm south of Champion.”
“It was possibly started by the stalks getting hot by a tractor but we don’t know for sure,” Mitchell said.
Eleven firefighters responded to the fire call in addition to multiple trucks.
“It wasn’t much,” Mitchell added. “Maybe three acres.”
