Imperial man arrested in Wauneta

An Imperial man was arrested in Wauneta Oct. 21 for a series of disturbances early that day in Chase County.
In a release, the Chase County Sheriff’s Office identified the man as Cody James Wiest, 21.
He was arrested on felony charges of use of a weapon to commit a felony and three counts of terroristic threats.
The Sheriff’s Office said he was allegedly involved in series of altercations with a former girlfriend that began at Enders Reservoir and ended at a home in western rural Chase County.
Initial attempts to locate Wiest were unsuccessful. The Sheriff’s Office report said they believed he hid in a cornfield until morning, then made his way to Wauneta. He was arrested at a residence there that afternoon without incident.
Wiest is being held on a $250,000 10% bond in the Chase County Jail pending his formal arraignment in Chase County Court.
