Immunization clinic scheduling August appointments

School is already rounding the corner.
The next Chase County Immunization Clinic scheduled for Aug. 10 is a great opportunity to get required immunizations for school-age children as well as infant to toddlers and adults.
Vaccines available for adults include HPV, which, if infected,  can lead to cervical cancer.
Other adult vaccines are for tetanus, chicken pox, Hepatitis B, MMR (measles, mumps, rubella), meningitis and whooping cough.
“It’s important for adults who spend time around children to have the whooping cough vaccine,” said Chris Tomky, RN and clinic coordinator, “especially infants as they are too young to receive the vaccine and can get very sick, even become fatal.”
There are two types of vaccines for meningitis, and college students need both, said Tomky.
“Some colleges are requiring they have this vaccine,” she added.
