Hospital bond slated for November ballot

In a 2-1 decision Tuesday, Chase County Commissioners authorized the board of Chase County Community Hospital to secure a guaranteed bid for the construction of a new hospital.
Hospital administrators Steve Lewis and Abby Cyboron told commissioners Dave Hogsett, Chuck Vette and Don Weiss, Jr. that the hospital board had met Friday. Board members were uncomfortable presenting an estimated construction cost to the voters.
“We don’t think we can sell that to the voters.” Lewis said.
“There are still lots of questions, what will it look like, what will be in it. They would rather wait for some better pricing,” he said.
Lewis went on to say, “We’ve come full circle on the project. I don’t know where we go from here, we really do need to come together and figure out how we’re going to get this done.”
Commissioners Hogsett and Weiss held opposing views.
