Hospital board selects Colorado design-build team

Team will complete design, cost estimate for a new facility

The possibility of a new hospital for Chase County took another step forward Tuesday  with action by the hospital board.
On Monday, the board members interviewed four finalists to complete a   design and cost estimate for a new hospital.
Following a recess of Monday’s meeting, board members voted unanimously Tuesday to
select the team of Adolfson & Peterson Construction of Aurora, Colo., and Davis Partnership Architects of Denver (AP/Davis).
The hospital is working closely with the U.S. Department of Agriculture as a funding source for the new hospital.

As it turned out, the board selected the AP/Davis team.
The project calls for a design-build approach, which includes a design team of architects working directly with the construction company.
In a design-build contract, the team provides a firm project budget they agree not to exceed.
This team is then responsible for the costs and quality of all work on the project, regardless of the fault of any subcontractor they may hire.
They receive a fee of 9 percent of the project’s cost.
The other three finalists interviewed included the teams of Beckenhauer Construction of Norfolk/BWBR architects of Minneapolis; Sampson Construction of Lincoln/Leo A. Daly architects of Omaha; and the ERDMAN Company of Madison, Wisc.
    ERDMAN was the only final-
