Holiday scratch-off ticket promotion kicks off Friday

Twenty-two Imperial businesses will be offering special scratch-off tickets this Christmas shopping season after purchases are made in their stores or offices.
The official kick-off is on Friday, when businesses will first start offering the tickets.
Imperial’s Chamber of Commerce is bringing back the holiday promotion this year after introducing it in 2016 to rave reviews, said Jana Pribbeno, a member of the Chamber’s Shop Imperial committee.
“People really enjoyed it last year,” Pribbeno said. “So the Chamber is bringing it back.
Its popularity also spread among the businesses, too. More are taking part this year, Pribbeno noted.
Each business participating has been given an amount of scratch-off cards with Chamber Bucks as the prizes. Amounts behind the scratch-off section will be $5, $10 or $20. A total of $3,630 in Chamber Bucks will be paid out to the lucky ticket-holders, Pribbeno said.
On top of that, businesses  will include their own in-house specials on a scratch-off ticket, such as 25 percent off an item, free gift/grab bag, a dollar amount off a next purchase and more, Pribbeno said.
Pribbeno said the goal of the program is for the community to shop locally and keep Imperial businesses and the community thriving.
The theme again is, “Buy, Eat, Live, Love, Local.”
