Great day to be a kid

Despite warm temperatures, an estimated 700 youths and their parents turned out for the Mobile Children’s Museum, brought to Imperial Sunday and Monday as part of Nebraska’s 150th birthday celebration. Imperial was one of just 42 communities chosen for a stop during a summer-long “Truckin’ Through Nebraska” tour. One of the more popular offerings was the Chore Challenge in which youths were paired up side-by-side to complete a series of “chores” with the clock running. Above Evan O’Neil moves along the bag-filled wheelbarrow which then had to be unloaded, while Tessa Robinson tosses bean bags into a barrel. Below, Tammy Siverson observes her two children, Ginny and Logan, as they create postcards with Hadley Worth, far right, at one of the indoor stations. A series of Fun Facts lined the entryway into the museum’s indoor exhibits. (Johnson Publications photos)
