Former Marine, Imperial native to address Memorial Day service

    Brian Hill, an Imperial native who served in the Middle East with the Marines, will be the featured speaker at Monday’s Memorial Day service at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Imperial.
    The program will begin at 10:30 a.m., and will include a presentation at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and other ceremonial events.
    The day is being organized by the Andrew Kinder VFW Post #4688 and the VFW Auxiliary.
    Post officers said if there is rain Monday morning, the program will be cancelled.
    Volunteers who would like to help put out flags on more than 300 veterans’ graves at the cemetery can help starting at 4:30 p.m. today (Thursday).
Hill a former Marine
    Hill graduated from Chase  County High School in 1987 and enlisted in the Marine Corps.
    He served in the Marines for seven years, seeing action in the Middle East during Desert Storm and Desert Shield in the early 1990s.
    He followed that tour as an embassy guard in Nassua, Bahamas, Singapore and at the Interest Section in Havana, Cuba.
    He was honorably discharged after reaching the rank of sergeant.
    He is owner and Director of Training for Mental Ammo, which offers courses on instructor development, leadership training and personal safety. He also serves as a Staff Sergeant for an agency in the Denver metro area.
    Hill also provided the address at the Memorial Day services at Mt. Hope in 2013.
    He is the son of Ansel and Joyce Hill of Imperial.
