Firefighters up early on fire call to bank

An alarm early Monday at Adams Bank & Trust sent members of the Imperial Volunteer Fire Department (IVFD) to Adams Bank & Trust at 545 Broadway.
The 3 a.m. call resulted from an alarm on the bank’s second floor that was faulty, said Jakob Burke, a bank employee and IVFD member.
He said a faulty sensor was discovered when the bank’s alarm company investigated.
As they waited for a key from bank employees, IVFD Chief Doug Mitchell said firefighters first assessed the building’s exterior after arriving on scene just a block south of the fire hall.
Once inside, First Asst. Chief Kelsey Weiss said they did use thermal imaging cameras on the main level to make sure there were no hot spots. He said bank employees at the time believed it was likely a faulty sensor that set off the alarm, but they used the cameras to be certain.
Firefighters also examined the upstairs room where the faulty alarm was located.
They were on scene about an hour, Mitchell said.
Imperial EMS also responded to the early morning call.
