Fifteen-year-old okay after vehicle rollover

Fifteen-year-old Shakota Colton is dealing with just bumps and bruises this week, as she recovers from a one-vehicle accident Friday, west of Imperial.
The Chase County sophomore was driving a 2006 Ford 500 four-door sedan on her way to school, when for unknown reasons, the car left Highway 6 about 7:20 a.m.
According to County Sheriff Kevin Mueller’s report, the vehicle veered off into the south ditch and rolled three times. Colton was wearing her seat belt, and was able to get out of the car on her own, according to a report from the family.
She was transported to Chase County Community Hospital by Imperial EMS, where she was treated and released.
Mueller said the vehicle was a total loss.
The Imperial Volunteer Fire Department was also on the scene to assist.
