Fall light pole judging coming next week

The city-sponsored light pole decorating contest has been well-received by the community, said Jason Tuller, Community Development Director.
The only rules for design themes were that it be about fall/autumn and not scary or creepy.
There are 30 poles spoken for and decorated, Tuller said.
“People have been coming up to me excited about the contest and commenting on how festive it makes the downtown area and along Broadway look,” he said.
“Last Friday was the deadline for the poles to be completed, and the winner will be announced later this month,” he said.
The winner of the contest will receive $250.
The pole decorations can remain on the light poles until Dec. 2, Tuller said.
The wind has been causing problems with some of the decorations.
“People are welcome to redecorate and do maintenance on their pole decorations as needed if damaged by winds and weather,” he said.
The response has been very positive, and the plan is to have another contest next fall, Tuller added.
