Fair parade theme, grand marshals announced

“Slow Ride” is the 2017 Chase County Fair’s parade theme, announced last week by the Imperial Chamber of Commerce.
Businesses, organizations and others with entries in the parade will follow that theme for the Saturday, Aug. 19, parade down Imperial’s main street.
Jana Pribbeno, a member of the parade committee, noted “Slow Ride” is one of the iconic hits by Foghat, the rock group performing the night before the parade on the Chase County Fair stage.
Parade divisions will be the same as previous years—organizations, business/professional, religious, equestrian and open class.
A trailer will likely be needed to carry this year’s Parade Grand Marshals, she noted.
That’s because all past fair board and associate fair board members will serve as Grand Marshals this year. Those who have not yet been contacted and would like to participate should call Pribbeno at 308-882-4453.
Also to be honored as a Grand Marshal will be KOGA Radio’s John Brandt of Ogallala, who’s covered the Chase County Fair for 48 years.
